440 count Egyptian Cotton pillow cases

I ordered 4 pillow cases as I had previously bought a couple of flat sheets and was extremely pleased with them. The sheets were silky smooth with almost a sheen to them and are a delight to lay on. However the pillow cases don't appear to be the same . They don't have he same feel or look about them. I have pre washed them before using and the difference is quite marked, even my husband noticed. Is this just a variation in the making? I don't know. I'm hoping that they get better even if they don't feel the same. I was a bit disappointed really.
